New Christchurch Library and Learning Centre to open on 13 May0
The new Christchurch Library and Learning Centre is nearing completion and is expected to open to the public on 13 May.
Prior to this, a two-week closure of the current library from 29 April until 13 May is needed to allow for final touches to the project, including flooring, IT installations, shelving and furniture. There will be a mobile library in the Bypass car park (near Waitrose) where library users can borrow and return books and other items. In addition, customers will, be able to borrow extra books in advance and use Highcliffe library during this period.
Dorset County Council invested £2 million to refurbish the building, including an extension at the rear. The library now has an increased floor area of approximately 766 square metres – 60 per cent more space than before.
The official opening ceremony of the new Christchurch Library and Learning Centre will take place on 1 June.
