New Asda supermarket for Christchurch


A new Asda is to be opened at a former Ministry of Defence site in Christchurch Dorset, in 2015, developers have said.

Asda supermarket for ChristchurchThe redevelopment of the former QinetiQ site on Bailey Drive, Christchurch, was granted outline planning permission by the borough council in June.

As well as a 5,000 sq m (55,000 sq ft) food store, a fitness facility and homes were also approved.

Quantum Group said the store was likely to open in 2015, creating 375 jobs.

More than 100 “additional construction roles” will also be created to develop the site over the next 18 months, the developer said.

It also said it had agreed to invest £1m in a new non-for-profit organisation, The Christchurch Foundation Trust.

    This is about the proposed Asda site off of Barrack Rd Christchurch

    Is it still on track to be opened in 2015 as we are led to believe by earlier information?
