Museum of Electricity Closed


The Museum of Electricity in Christchurch, Dorset has closed, staff have been made redundant and volunteers have also been laid off.

Museum of ElectricityAn independent review, found it did not fulfil visitor needs and had restricted disabled access.

The museum, which closes between the end of September and Easter, will not reopen in the spring of 2013 as normal.

Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), which funds the museum ,spokesman Julian Reeves said the company was discussing redeployment opportunities with staff members and would continue to provide an education service for schools and colleges.
