Mudeford Quay was constructed in the late 1940s. Prior to this, The Haven, as it was then known was surrounded by sloping beaches.
The quay, with its historic buildings is popular with visitors. There is a pub, cafe, wet fish shop and a lifeboat station.
A ferry runs Mudeford Sandbank and Hengistbury Head, which is almost an island, with a cafe and many beach huts.
