Dorset Police and Crime Panel vote on council tax0
Dorset’s Police and Crime Panel met on 6 February to discuss the police council tax precept for 2014/15.
Members of the panel examined the Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill’s recommendations for next year’s (2014/15) police council tax charge.
After a thorough debate, the majority of the panel voted against increasing the police precept by 1.96 per cent. Nine voted against and seven voted for the proposal. However, 12 votes against the proposal would have been required for the increase to be vetoed and not go ahead.
The increase will bring the charge for a band D property up to £187.11 – an extra £3.60 per year.
The Dorset Police and Crime Panel is made up of representatives from the county council, all of Dorset’s borough and district councils, Bournemouth and Poole councils and two independent members
