Dorset County Council Take Over Christchurch Street parking

Since the start of April, on-street parking enforcement and on-street residents’ parking schemes are the responsibility of Dorset County Council, with parking in car parks continuing to be administered by Christchurch Borough Council.

Simon Gledhill, parking services manager, said: “Residents wishing to renew their on-street parking permit will need to apply through the county council, but permits issued by the borough will continue to be valid until their expiration date.

“Other than this, the most notable change is that if you receive a penalty charge notice for on-street parking it will be issued by, and the fine will be processed by, Dorset County Council.”

For a number of years, the county council paid the borough council for managing the on-street parking service through an agency agreement. The county council has taken back responsibility for this service to make parking services consistent across the county area and better value for money.

All on-street parking enquiries should be directed to Dorset County Council on 01305 228110 or email
