Christchurch Angels befriending service0
Christchurch Angels is a befriending service will address the unmet needs of vulnerable people in Christchurch that have been identified from feedback provided by patients, carers, churches, third sector agencies, GPs and vulnerable patient teams.
The befriending service may be needed by young mums and families finding it hard to cope but predominantly it will be for older people. According to a report by the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA), one in 6 of over-50’s are socially isolated in England and usually they are the least well-off. The Report suggests that focusing public health intervention efforts on this sector, and improving access to public and private transport for them, is likely to have the greatest impact in alleviating social isolation More information
